If you have recently submitted a thesis or dissertation and need more information about its status, graduate and doctoral students should contact the Graduate School, at [email protected]
Honors College students should contact the Honors College.
Researchers should first check the Libraries' online catalog (GIL) to determine location, availability, and format.
If a print copy of a University of Georgia thesis or dissertation (before 2001) is desired, it can be requested from the Libraries' offcampus storage facility, the Repository.
Graduate level theses and doctoral dissertations published during the transition years of 1999-2001 may be either print or electronic format.
Honors College theses are available in print to 1999 and electronically from 2009 to the present.
If for some reason, it cannot be borrowed (checked out, lost, etc.), the University's archival master copies may be available for viewing -- by prearranged appointment and not for check-out -- in the Georgiana Collection, part of the Hargrett Library.
Some electronic theses and dissertations are not viewable off campus; these ETDs are designated as on-campus only in the ETD database.
ETDs are received from the Graduate School or Honors College by the Libraries' Systems Department which loads them into the GALILEO ETD database and the Libraries Cataloging Department begins to catalog them in GIL.
Cataloging the ETDs in GIL sets our holdings in World Cat and provides information needed for Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
