You will gain an understanding of the values and principles of social services and learn how to integrate those values with necessary skills and knowledge, including the importance of anti-discriminatory practice in line with the National Care Standards and Scottish Social Services Council Codes of Practice.
Successful completion of the award will enable you to gain access to employment within a social service setting.
For students who do not normally reside in the UK or European Union and with a term-time address in Scotland, the following fees apply: Having good support from classmates and tutors, and learning from their experiences as well as on work placements, convinced me that working in social care was what I really wanted. Foreigners are definitley welcome to study at UK universities and you will not be expected to work for the UK after you qualify; although if you are not a UK citizen you would not be eligable for the national student loan or the General Social Care Council Bursary so you would have to find the tutition fees plus living money yourself.All of the programs I have found lead to licensure in the UK and sound like they are geared towards locals practicing in their local councils.
