The Importance of Art Throughout the ages art has played a crucial role in life.

In biblical times paintings recorded the life and death of Christ. Most art is created for a specific reason or purpose, it has a way of expressing ideas and beliefs, and it can record the experiences of all people.

Most art has some sort of reason or purpose behind it.Sometimes art provides pure escapism, such as cartoons and comics.Other art allows us to juxtapose fantasy and reality, creating a world in which the artist wished we lived.Haviland writes: "art is the creative use of the human imagination to interpret, understand, and enjoy life" (1990, p.383).Art is an intrinsic part of society; stories we tell, myths, legends, folk lore, paintings, even the way we speak can be seen as art.Art tells us who they were and what they did for survival, for entertainment, for religion; everything is linked to art and the Arts.The arts is the school of artistic thought, and without the arts, art would never have existed.It allows us to gain historical perspective and understanding.Art allows us to appreciate different periods in history and their impact and significance in our world. Artists create a visual record of life experiences commemorating the memorable and challenging social injustices, such as slavery and abuses, in time.Even in ancient culture art has played a crucial role.In prehistoric times cave dwellers drew on the wall of caves to record history.
