Brainstorming College Essay

It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma-anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. What have you been experimenting with in the club and why?

Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution. Is this in a community venue or local animal rescue center? Prompt 5: Within your particular faith, have you gone through a particular ceremony/event? Informal events are usually more unique that birthdays and weddings.A lot of students struggle to come up with great college essay ideas.After all, most college essay prompts seem to ask for a pretty big accomplishment or a transformative experience.Do you belong to any after school clubs or take part in any sports at the weekend? Clubs and sports showcase team working, planning, strategy and forward thinking. Do you have a hobby that consumes your time during holidays? The great news is with this prompt, you only have to write about a background, an identity, an interest or a talent, i.e. Prompt 2: The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success.Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure.Try and match any of your activities to the wording in the prompts. You’re already part way there and now it’s time to start writing your essay.This is one of my favorite brainstorming activities. It’s one of the most efficient ways I know to help generate a TON of content for your personal statement and also add texture to bring your essay to life.Prompt 1: Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it.If this sounds like you, then please share your story. What sparks your interest and imagination when you’re on these trips?You don’t have to have had some sort of unique, tragic, or spiritual experience in order to write an absolutely amazing college application essay.You don’t need to have stared death in the face or climbed El Capitan or made the Olympic Tug of War team as long as you write about whatever topic you choose In other words, the secret to a great college essay has very little to do with your topic and everything to do with how well you write about your topic.
